Project
Q-criterion for TAV
Visualization of vortex structures using Q-criterion for tricuspid aortic valve (TAV) flow simulation.
1 Challenge
Visualizing vortex structures in tricuspid aortic valve flow to understand the hemodynamics.
2 CFD Approach
Iso-surfaces of the Q-criterion were computed for a trileaflet aortic valve during systolic phase. Linear isotropic Saint-Venant material model was used for valve leaflets.
3 Results
The visualization shows the opening heart valve with clear vortex ring formation.
4 Engineering Conclusion
Q-criterion effectively reveals the complex 3D flow structures during valve opening.
