Objective
This project developed and validated compressibleCentralReactingFoam, an OpenFOAM-based solver for high-speed, compressible, multicomponent reacting gas flows.
Methodology
- Combined density-based compressible-flow capabilities from rhoCentralFoam with reacting-flow modeling from reactingFoam.
- Solved Favre-filtered LES governing equations.
- Validated on shock-tube cases, 3D Ladenburg jet, and DLR scramjet.
Key Results
- Shock-tube simulations reproduced reference profiles.
- 3D jet matched experimental data with errors below 3%.
- WALE produced best agreement with temperature data.
Technical Achievements
- Built compressible reacting OpenFOAM solver.
- Validated across 1D, 3D, and 2D configurations.
- Integrated LES and detailed chemistry modeling.
